Several people have suggested an interest in my recipe book. Although selling it would be great, there are a few flaws with that plan.
One, most of the recipes were aquired from other cookbooks. Although most cookbook writers "borrow" recipes and cite it in their books, I do not have a publicist who can tell me what I can and cannot do. Luckily, I have amended most of the recipes to suit my tastes, so I guess they belong to me now.
Two, making these would prove to be time consuming. Time is somewhat of a valuable commodity around here, and I would like to be making other things.
Three, I would rather be nice and share my cooking knowledge. Cooking has been a hobby for quite a while now, and I dare say I am a pretty good cook. I think my biggest attribute is that I am not afraid to try things. This would be my most important advice to novice cooks out there. You don't HAVE to follow a recipe to a T. Improvise. Experiment. In fact, next week's recipe is going to be a dessert I actually invented.
As you all know by now, I am a novice to the world of writing computer code. Therefore, I am hoping this actually works; if you come into some difficulty, please leave a comment here and I will try to fix the problem. The recipe will be in pdf form, set to print at 4x6 index card size. Just click on the "Recipe of the week" button and then print the file. My suggestion is to buy a pack of 4x6 blank index cards (unruled). Then set your printer paper size to 4x6. This will print out professional looking recipe cards to either put on rings like mine, or keep in a recipe box.
Again, if you have problems with the file, or suggestions as to how to make this easier, leave a comment on this post. I will post a new recipe every Wednesday. This week's recipe is for Fig-rosemary Spread. This creamy dip is made with dried mission figs and goat cheese. I keep most all of the ingredients on hand so whipping this up for company is a snap. The recipe originally came from Everyday Food magazine. Enjoy!
