I was thinking the other day that I never have pictures of myself. This, of course, is a combination of being the photographer in most of the pictures and the fact that, my baby weight seems to be permanently stuck to my body. Seeing as this is not a fact that will change any time immediately I thought I would post a self portrait. Granted, it is what I would call the "tricky portrait" because you don't have to suck in that tummy or watch the double chin. But then, I tend to like these kinds of pictures best anyway. The funny thing is that when I took it I wasn't posing really, just looking down. Afterwards, when I was looking at the image I realized how much it looks like a zillion of the pictures I take of Olivia. She makes this expression a lot in pictures. Isn't that funny?
I took this picture this morning during our pathetic breakfast. We are down to the most ridiculous selection of foods. It is actually a miracle we had a piece of fresh produce anywhere in this house. One lone banana- or nana, as Zoe calls them. As Olivia was cutting the banana I was thinking about Amy's post over at Angry Chicken. She was talking about Montessori methods of letting children use the real macoy when playing so they are able to do more than just pretend. I really do think this is so important. I mean, how can a child learn how to handle a real glass if all we ever give them are spill-proof sippy cups. Olivia has definitely hit the age where she wants a real glass at a restaurant, not a "kid's cup", and much to the waiters' chagrin I usually comply with her requests. We actually have not had any major accidents as of yet.
Anyway, you should go read Amy's post. I love the idea of making real cleaning kit for the girls to keep in our kitchen. Olivia loves to "mop" the floor...why not get her her very own mop and water bucket?
