So, I have a theory. It relates to photography skills in general, but really it could pertain to just about anything. My theory is that my best pictures come from moments I really care about. I guess this seems like common sense, but while looking at the pictures from last night I realized I was busted. They really kind of stink.
Now, at this moment you are probably thinking "What? You don't care about your girls at Halloween." The answer would be yes and no. Yes, because I love my girls and love seeing them get so excited about dressing up and trick or treating. No, because although Halloween is fun it has never been my favorite holiday...I'm a Thanksgiving kind of gal...mainly because food is involved. Halloween usually entails quite a bit of frantic behavior (fixing costume problems), rushing (getting dinner eaten and costumes on), fits (preventing the nineteenth candy consumption), and money (wings, candy, etc.).
All this is to say that as much as I would love for the photos to be up to my personal expectations for qualiy, they just aren't because my heart isn't in the holiday. Actually, the photo at the top was my favorite picture of the day...and go figure, it's actually just a picture of them waiting for their father to come home. Other than the antenae, it really has nothing to do with Halloween...just my girls doing what they do.
So anyway, bring on the turkey. I'm ready.
