I realized yesterday that we are not normal. (this is the point where my family quits snickering and saying "we already knew this Rach") When I picked up Olivia from school yesterday I mentioned to her teacher that we were remodeling our kitchen this week, and she said "oh, you just decided to remodel the kitchen for the week?" Obviously most people don't just start tearing down cabinetry. They plan and ponder and meet and purchase and prep and discuss. Um, we don't. We pretty much make the decisions and do it. By ourselves.

Another recent discovery is that I was not born with a gene that tells me I can't do something. Seriously, I will look at a project and say "Well sure I can install cabinetry. Well sure I can put in a backsplash. Well sure I can lay my own linoleum tile. Why not?" It definitely makes for some fun weekends! This one will be spent moving outlets, laying new flooring, installing base cabinets, and possible drywalling.
Since David has very little free time we have to plan carefully that he isn't around doing jobs that I can do on my own, like the backsplash. He does the manly things, like rip down thousand pound upper cabinets with me. Oh, and put in the new cabinets with the help of my stepdad (yes Steve, heads up, we will be calling). They also do the electrical, because I just don't like to. You have to touch cobwebs in the basement and stuff to move wiring and that grosses me out.
So everyone please go play at the park for me. Smell some flowers and take pictures of leaves and sunshine. I will be here in this cave. I know I said there would be a shop update this week, but obviously that is not going to happen just yet. Maybe in another week or so.
Have a good day. Go yank something out with a crowbar; it does wonders for the mood!
