When David and I were in Spain during high school we visited the Royal Palace in Madrid. Our tour guide had this funny accent and would walk around the palace saying "Thiiis clock? Flemish. The stones? Real Die-a-monds. Thiis chair? Flemish. Thiis table? Real gold." Our entire tour was like that, as if we were walking around the royal palace thinking everything was a knock off.
Well, I kind of get what she was feeling now. As I show you a "taste" of our kitchen remodel, I want to take you all around the room and say "that backsplash? I did it. That floor? I did that too. The cabinets? David installed them. The granite? We installed it." I just can't help but want to put a big frame in the room that says "We did this whole room ourselves!"
Not a very humble attitude, I realize, but dang! It was a lot of hard work. I promise not to go on and on about it again.
There is still a bit to do. None of the upper shelves are installed yet, which is huge considering that is where all my dishes go. The hardware isn't on any of the cabinets and we haven't put up the end pieces on the cabinet either. You know, it's just ugly cabinet sides right now. The moulding isn't back in the room and none of the trim has been repainted ultra white. BUT I can cook. I can run water. I can DISHWASH! Did you know that was a verb? Well, when you haven't had one it sure is.
So, have a good day everyone. I'm off to clean my house and get ready for sweet Olivia to come home today from her ten day trip to San Antonio. It's a great Thursday!
