These are my two latest in the J.Crew inspired pillows. It feels good to have something from my brain working out so well in reality. While working on these though, I was struck with the realization that this crazy blitz of inspiration is fleeting. It's true. I will work like this for a week or two on the sewing machine and then suddenly it will disappear. Afterward, it could be a month or more before I even take the cover off the machine.
For some reason, this is just how I work. I am not one of those people who feels the urge to sew late at night when every one else is asleep. I get an idea, think it through, and execute it. Then I am finished. It's probably why I have so many little hobbies. Once one project is complete I am ready to move to a different medium. Seldom can I be working on many things at once. It's all or nothing with me I guess.
The other fact I have realized sadly is that I could never sell these. I really love designing and sewing pillows. They are like canvases for me. I would certainly love to make them even after I have run out of places to put a pillow in my own home. The problem arrises when I start to calculate the cost of one of these babies. By the time I figure in materials and time to sew a pillow we are looking at a price tag over $60. Geesh. So for now I have to be happy making new pillows every few years for myself with the occasional gift thrown in.
Have a great Tuesday everyone!
