Hey all. Sorry about my accidental absence lately. I probably should have taken a blog break this week. Last night we began the process of making cascarones. This is the traditional way people in Mexico and places like South Texas do easter eggs. Easter is a huge holiday in David's family, as it should be. Every year in South Texas, afte morning Easter Mass, the entire family converge upon the family ranch to cook Cabrito, hang outside, hit the pinata, do the egg hunt, and most importantly the breaking of the cascarones. Suddenly there is bedlam thoughout the ranch as every man, woman, and child runs around attempting to crack these confetti-filled eggs on each other's heads.
Since we are unable to make it to Laredo, being too far away to travel, we like to get in full egg mode around here. The festivities aren't nearly as grandiose, and they completely lack any cabrito, but we have a great time none-the-less.
