I will confess and say that few of our weekends are truly ideal. Often they involve David being at work, or house projects getting tackled. But this weekend...this weekend was different. This weekend was almost perfect.
Friday night we went out to meet up with some people with whom David works. It was fun to spend an evening doing a completely grown up activity. We actually stayed out until after 1am! Gasp! Even better, we actually woke up to meet an old college friend for breakfast. This is the kicker, because we hate when we end up sleeping super late on a weekend and missing the best part of the day.
Of course, in typical Saldaña fashion, we left immediately from the breakfast place and went to meet my parents for lunch. I know, that's ridiculous. We split a meal at both places, so really it ended up just being one long 3 hour meal. After a bit of discussion about a possible trip to the zoo we decided the best course of action for the day was to drag out the king size quilt to the yard and proceed to lounge all afternoon. It. Was. Heavenly. So heavenly in fact that I pretty much did the same thing yesterday. David was on call last night and so the girls and I hung around the backyard all day, them in the sandbox and me reading a book. We lunched outside and enjoyed the glorious weather.
What I did not do was hang out on the computer. After taking care of a few things that had to be done, I logged off. I put the computer to sleep, walked past the girls' messy bedroom, past the pile of dishes in the sink, past the stack of junk in the garage, and went straight to my blanket oasis. We just enjoyed ourselves, and I could care less that the house is less than pristine today. We just relaxed , and that is perfection.
