First, I am so happy over the response to the postcard sets. I already have a new set on the way. Also, as a thank you for the support, I have marked all of my prints off 25% for the next week as an end of summer sale. Go check them out.
To prove I actually do what I talk about on the blog here, I wanted to show the rearranged studio. I wanted to make it a place where the whole family could be without feeling like they were in my territory. We are lucky enough to have a basement where we can store furniture that we don't really use. I just moved a couple of things downstairs and brought up this round oak table my mother gave me about eight years ago (can you believe it was that long ago mom?).
I can't say enough how valuable a good round table can be. We have used this from house to house in all kinds of variations. It was a dining table in our first apartment. Then, when we moved into a huge 5 bedroom house we used it as a decorative table in a big bay window, holding a lamp and pictures. When we moved to Boston, it became our primary eating table again. Now here it is, in the studio, being used as a work table. Years ago I lacquered it black, and it was the best thing I could have done, because the dark shiny surface seems to go with every house we have lived in.
So far, this is working out perfectly... the girls have already sat with me and done some drawing. David can spread his medical books out without getting into my zone. I also am finding I have more space to do things like prepare shop orders.
