Today was a good day. Well, I guess I should say it still is a good day, as it is only 4pm. The weather couldn't get more perfect..sunny with a breeze. We are all outside right now. Zoe is rattlng sand around in a bucket and Olivia is drawing pictures of our house.
As I sat here I started thinking about pieces of my day that I really enjoyed. I thought I'd share them with you.
- The color of the orange I cut for Olivia's lunch. They are cara cara oranges from South Africa of all places. The insides are a blush color instead of the normal orange.
- Spending time with Zoe this morning roasting zucchini. I slided. She painted on the olive oil. Not thinking about how long it was taking, and instead just enjoyed doing something together.
- Seeing how big our watermelon is getting in the garden. It grows so fast!
- Looking around at a clean house, with that sense of accomplishment that comes from working.
- The smell of roasting tomatoes from the garden- both fresh and earthy at that same time. A smell so good I had to sample one (or two).
- visiting with friends via email, thinking how nice it is to touch base a few times a day.
- roaming around a thrift store alone. Taking my time to look at every little bit. Snapping up a vintage book on gardening.
I hope you are having a great day. As for me, I am baking pastry crust right now: one for our dinner (zucchini tart), one for the next-door neighbor who has been lending us her lawnmower and giving us zucchini all summer. I think I'll go in and get that gardening book now.
