This is the first morning in quite a few weeks where I can relax, and drink my coffee, without thinking about the list of things I need to get done. Maybe I will cozy up in my studio today and work on some sewing. Gloomy skies and rainy weather makes for the perfect sewing day. Every year I have big plans to make Christmas gifts ahead of schedule, and almost every year the weeks get the best of me and I fun out of time. Maybe this is a good time to start working on holiday gifts.
I've also been thinking about thrifting for gifts this year. Sometimes the perfect gift is a lovely platter covered with homemade cookies. Or maybe a tablecloth for the Christmas season. Any of these things can be found with some thorough thrifting. So, I am going to keep my eyes peeled for some treasures.
Although it seems early to be thinking about decorating for Christmas, I have found myself already pondering this year's decor. After two Christmases in this small house I have decided that our tree is just too big for the space. I am now on the lookout for an affordable pencil tree to use instead. And I am thinking of streamlining the decorations this year to a more simple white and gold theme to reduce some of the visual clutter. Unfortunately, in a small home the rainbow of colors often found on a tree and other decorations start to feel overwhelming.
So today I think I may hit the thrift stores for some wool sweaters in white and cream to convert into stockings. Maybe this will be the year that I enter the post-thanksgiving frenzy in a calm and prepared state!
