The photo above is of a delicata squash, aptly named because it has the thinnest skin. These palm-sized squash roast down to the most toasty, sweet flavor. My first experience with this vegetable was on a trip to the Berkshires in Massachusetts. David and I took a holiday sans children for the weekend and ate at the most wonderful bistro. Never in my mind would I have guessed that such a simple preparation could yield complete perfection.
This got me thinking about all of the different types of produce in this world. Apricots, Tamarind, wax beans, kohlrabi, lychee, really there are so many foods we don't all eat every day. If you haven't tried something new lately, I suggest getting to your grocer and picking out a food you've never tried before.
