This has been one of those years to remember. One of those years when certain things just worked out. Funny enough, nothing really huge happened this year, and yet I am left with this sensation of success and accomplishment. Perhaps a lot of that comes from the fact that this has been the year I really fell into comfort with myself. I just seem to have worked out the kinks, so to speak. 2009 was the year I stopped worrying about what others are doing and learned to just be happy with who I am and what is going on in my life. I think I have become a better person for it.
In honor of this last day of 2009, I wanted to remember a few things that made the year memorable for me. The above photos are representative of my past year, one photo per month. Each picture not only represents one of my favorite photos of the year, but also important moments as well.
This was the year of the perfect summer. Seriously, this is the thing that stands out more than any other. The entire summer was just magical, as if it had been written in a fairy tale, with picnics and warm lazy days.
Discovering the wonder of slide film. That clarity that is only present in slide film. Watching them up on a projector.
The year I got my husband back- he has finally paid his dues and is around so much more now. I had forgotten how much I love having him around on the weekends instead of being on call constantly.
Vacations with family...the things my kids will remember always.
Moving forward with my love of photography: getting new lenses to make digital life easier. scanners to allow less expensive film shooting, finally figuring out the Hasselblad. The medium that always keeps me seeing my life anew every day.
My friends here: you have continued to be such a source of inspiration and friendship. Thank you for your support and encouragement!
Have a terrific New Year's Eve!
