As I walked down the steps into our backyard today, jelly jar of ice tea in hand, it occurred to me that we really are done with winter. I can't even begin to tell you how happy that makes me. Would you believe that already I have spotted a tan line on Zoe's arms?
We have finally tilled our garden spot, but need to turn the soil a bit more before it can actually be planted. I have started some seeds in the garage, and I'm happy to report that the mesclun, lettuce, soy, and snap peas are sprouting! This is a new venture for us. Last year we just planted some stuff and waited to see if it would die. Lo and behold it not only lived, but thrived. This year bring with it a major increase in the size of the garden: 600 sq. feet to be exact. I just hope we have as much good luck with it as last year.
Now i probably should go inside to think about supper...something that has been getting put on the back burner lately in order to linger as long as possible out in the sunshine.
xo,
Rachel
