Now that the weather has warmed up we are spending almost all of our free time outside. With this revelation that I barely live in my house now I realized I wanted to make the outdoor areas as homey as possible. However, I didn't want to spend a bunch of money or take a long time scrounging for cast offs around the neighborhood.
Then I had the idea for this coffee table. We had a bunch of palettes left over from the treehouse David has been building for the girls. He attached some metal casters onto the bottom using simple nuts and bolts with a block of wood between the casters and the palette. simple.
Originally I was going to have him pull apart the palette and reassemble the wood with the boards all touching. We were going to make the entire coffee table a bit smaller. But really, I decided to make it as easy as possible and couldn't be happier. It is sturdy enough to sit on (I plan on a few outdoor cushions). It's also big enough to use as a place to eat. And it is mobil and can be wheeled around the yard if need be.
All of this in about one hour's time!
