A blanket I've been working on for a while now. Over a year ago I made the switch to crochet from knitting. To be honest with you, I thought of knitting as the more sophisticated technique of the two. But over the past few months I have really developed an affinity for the crochet hook. It is easy to use, extremely versatile, a breeze to take along, and leaves fewer mistakes.
I also like that with crochet all the edges are already finished. No binding off the project when it's completed. Another bonus is that in the case of the blanket here, you don't have to have a preset size in mind. I can just keep crocheting rows of color until the blanket has gotten big enough to cover me.
Now, sometimes there is a project that really only can be done with knitting needles, but the crochet hook is a great solution for that busy hand work I enjoy so much. Also, it's easy to learn. Both my girls have already mastered the chain stitch and are about to move up to single crochet.
