This week has been cold. Well, cold for us coastal folk, with temps in the lower 40s at times. Finally though, the sun has returned to us, bringing with her those blessed 60°F days. Warmer weather warrants an after-school stop at the beach. It is such a treat to be able to go whenever we want, something we do not take for granted.
I was thinking about Five Senses Friday the other day, something my friend Shari started years ago, and then Abby continued. Instead of what I am noticing just today, I thought I'd jot down senses from the whole week. I hope you like it.
See- hundreds of birds, pastel sunrises, sleeping husband, lapping waves, a raccoon running across the road, cartwheels
Hear- the water fountain, the girls' made-up songs, the neighbor's obnoxious broken pool pump, sqwaking herons at night,
Feel- sand between my feet and flip flops, cold air blow through my sweater, warmth of a new blanket, edges of puzzle pieces, the curly fur of our neighbor's standard poodle
Smell- a broken perfume sample in our bedroom (for days and days), fishy marine smell when the tide is low at the causeway, beef stew simmering on the stove, sunshine on my skin after an hour at the beach, clean children from a giant bubble bath
Taste- frothy mexican hot chocolate after school, banana date smoothies, caldo de res, red wine
Have a great weekend!
