First off, let me just say that I am having a hard time concentrating because I am freezing. Does this ever happen to you? The temperature in our house is the same, but I just can't warm up. I think a pot of tea is in order.
While looking at these photos from the last few days I got to thinking more about process, and specifically how our process can evolve into a signature style. You all know what I am talking about. I bet many of you can just glance at a thumbnail over at flickr and know right away to whom the photo belongs. When i first started blogging I remember focusing so much on the current "style" of photos being admired and trying to replicate that look in my own photos. Usually, this resulted in a picture that didn't quite feel like my own.
Over time I have noticed that my photos echo similar traits...go look at your own and notice certain characteristics that continually appear in your images. You may even be surprised. One thing that surprised me was how often I take dark, moody photos. When I think of pictures I like to take, images filled with light usually enter my mind; however, these are not the photos I most often capture. Interesting, I think. Sometimes the person we think we are is not necessarily who we really are. I don't think it's bad to think of yourself in a different light, but I do believe it is key to know your essence.
