Today I found myself thinking about winter; I'm thinking about the difference in beauty that exists during the winter months. The color palatte is more washed out, but lines are more defined....more sharp edges to nature in the cold season. Lighting is not the same either; it bounces in from unknown sources and only lasts for a short time.
This is also the time of year when I find myself feeling the most restless, with some kind of need to create. My thoughts on process require me to mention that I can fill this need to create using almost any medium, even the ones I do not consider strengths. Painting is a huge release for me, although it is a medium I struggle with a great deal. It is a medium I am still working with to find a unique voice. Most importantly, I find it completely satisfying since there is no expectation attached. I don't consider myself a painter, so I feel free to make mistakes.
Maybe this weekend you will have an opportunity to try on a different hat. Don't consider whether or not you are good at it. Just clear your thoughts (or sink into them) and allow something to take shape. You will come away having learned something. Have a great weekend everyone!
