Happy Birthday Grammy!
Somehow I will be turning thirty this year, and yet my mother is only 35 today! Isn't that AMAZING? Unfortnately, I won't be around for this birthday, but i bet she would say she got the best gift ever. My mom and Steve have been transferred to Kansas City! Yes, I realize this is completely crazy. My stepdad is from KC, so when a position in his company opened up there they asked if he wanted to transfer. That is cool in itself, but what is really bizzare is the fact that within a month's time they found out they were transferred, sold their house, found a terrific job for Mom, and got her moved to start her job last weekend. Seriously, who does this happed to? We are thrilled, of course. I am so excited to have a sewing buddy around. So, I thought I would post a picture of one of her gifts: a lavendar scented rice pack. Happy Birthday Mom!
Speaking of sewing, I have other fun news. Sunday evening I broke my sewing machine. Apparently, I was trying to get it to do things that a beginner had no business doing. Well, meet the newest member of our family...my new Viking Huskvarna. That baby can sew thru TWELVE layers of upholstery fabric. In the sewing world that is really cool. I am going nuts with all he things I can do well now, like blind stitching, buttonholes, and just sewing really, really fast.
Finally I thought I would show you a picture of the girls' new and improved room. After getting the one bed for Zoe, Olivia kept trying to sleep in it. We decided to go ahead and get maching beds for the girls, and they couldn't be happier. Olivia walked in after we had finished and said "It looks like a playground in here!" That is always a positive sign. We really do like how much space the girls now have to spread out their toys. I made the quilts with a twin duvet from Ikea, and am pleased with how they turned out.
