gifting
Yesterday I mentioned we bought Olivia a Barbie. Well, that was true, but that wasn't her primary gift. I had to make her birthday gifts, of course. I made her this handsewing kit and a pencil roll. The sewing kit is because she always wants to sew the minute I get involved in a project at the machine. You know how this happens; as soon as you are completely engrossed with something at the machine (and probably frustrated about it) she walks in saying she wants to sew too. I love that she wants to sew. I don't love that she only asks when I am super busy. Well now she can just pull out her box and get to work without needing me to get supplies for her. I put six fabric squares, seven types of embroidery floss, seam ripper, large sashiko needles, and a tape measure.

I put all of her gifts, including some chapter books, into a thrifted train case. She loves to store her treasures in boxes, so I thought this would be perfect for transporting her favorite things. Plus, it is the perfect size for overnight trips to Grammy's. I want to put in a new fabric lining, but I need to investigate first. Surely it can't be that hard.
